Four steps, no retyping. AI converts your page over the internet; editing and PDF compilation happen on your iPhone.
Photograph the page
Point the camera at a notebook page, a whiteboard, a problem sheet, or a textbook. The guided scanner checks focus, glare, and page edges before it accepts the shot, so the recognizer gets a page worth reading.
AI reads your page
Page images are sent through the Ink2TeX service to OpenAI for AI conversion. The result preserves headings, paragraphs, lists, equations, and tables as editable LaTeX.
You get a real LaTeX document
Sections, equation environments, itemized lists, and tabular blocks are assembled into a complete document with its preamble, not a loose string of symbols. Uncertain readings are marked for you rather than guessed at silently.

Correct anything you like in the built-in LaTeX editor, compile it to a PDF on the phone, and send the .tex and .pdf anywhere — Files, Mail, Messages, or straight into an Overleaf project.

Scientific pages are not plain text. Ink2TeX is designed around the things that make them hard — layout, notation, and the symbols recognizers habitually confuse.
Equations as equations
Display formulas become equation environments, fractions stay fractions, and sub- and superscripts survive the trip. Matrices and cases keep their shape.
Structure, not soup
Titles, paragraphs, numbered and bulleted lists, tables, and underlines are detected as separate blocks, and you can correct any block's type before the document is built.
Subject dictionaries
Seven subject vocabularies sharpen recognition where it usually fails — ρ against p, ℓ against l, Σ against E — and rank alternatives instead of overwriting your page.

Account informationInk2TeX is provided by Inas Group. Sign in with Apple creates or authenticates your account. We receive your Apple account identifier and, when Apple provides them, your name and email address. If you choose Hide My Email, we receive Apple's relay address instead of your personal email. We use this information to operate your account, protect access, and associate your page balance and purchases with you.

Images and AI conversionWhen you request a conversion, page images, relevant image crops, and processing instructions are sent securely to the Ink2TeX backend hosted on Cloudflare and to OpenAI's API to generate LaTeX. AI conversion requires an internet connection. Our backend does not maintain a permanent image library. Do not submit material you are not authorized to share with these services.

Documents and temporary recoveryYour document library, editing, and PDF compilation are handled on your device. Generated conversion responses may also be temporarily retained on our backend to recover interrupted requests, with a recovery window of up to 72 hours. Responses are removed after successful settlement or expiry cleanup. Exporting or sending a document to Overleaf shares it with the destination you choose.

Subscriptions and page balancesApple processes payments. We do not receive your payment card or bank account details. Our backend records transaction identifiers, subscription status, purchased products, and page credits to deliver purchases, restore access, and prevent duplicate grants. RevenueCat provides the paywall and subscription services and receives an app account identifier and purchase information through its SDK.

Service providers and securityWe use Cloudflare for hosting, account and transaction data, and service operations; Apple for authentication and payments; and OpenAI for AI processing. RevenueCat supports paywalls and subscription services. These providers may process data outside your country under their own privacy and security terms. We use HTTPS and account authentication to protect data in transit and access to your account. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Usage, retention, and AI data handlingWe retain account-linked conversion counts, page balances, transaction records, and operational metadata such as processing outcomes and token usage to operate the service, monitor reliability and costs, and prevent abuse. Account and purchase records are kept as needed to provide the service and meet applicable legal or fraud-prevention obligations. OpenAI API data is not used to train its models by default; its standard abuse-monitoring retention may still apply even when API response storage is disabled. We do not sell your personal data or use your document content for targeted advertising.

Your choices and account deletionYou can choose Apple's Hide My Email option, choose which pages to submit, and delete locally saved documents in the app. You can request account deletion from the account screen in Settings. Deletion removes profile information and revokes account sessions; limited records may remain where necessary for transaction integrity, security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. Signing out does not delete your account. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.

How do I convert handwritten math to LaTeX?
Photograph the page with Ink2TeX and request AI conversion over the internet. Review the generated LaTeX document, make corrections, compile a PDF on your iPhone, and export it.
Is there an iPhone app that turns handwriting into LaTeX?

Does Ink2TeX work offline?
AI conversion, sign-in, and purchase verification require an internet connection. You can edit saved LaTeX documents and compile PDFs on your iPhone; uncommon TeX packages may need an internet download.
Can I edit the LaTeX it produces?
Yes. The result opens in a LaTeX editor with syntax highlighting, undo, and a readable list of compiler errors, beside a live PDF preview. Nothing is locked.
Does it really compile a PDF on the phone?
Yes. A TeX engine and a set of standard packages are bundled with the app, so your document is typeset on the device rather than sent to a server to be built.
Can I open the result in Overleaf?
Yes. Ink2TeX hands the finished source to Overleaf as a new project in one step, and you can also share the .tex and .pdf files through the iOS share sheet.
Which subjects does it understand?
Ink2TeX ships with vocabularies for mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, engineering, and statistics, plus shared rules for layout and transcription. You pick the subject before scanning and recognition is tuned to it.
Does it work with printed pages as well as handwriting?
Yes. Printed textbook pages, problem sheets, and slides are read the same way — handwriting is simply the harder case the app is designed around.
What happens to my pages and documents?
Images are sent to the Ink2TeX backend and OpenAI when you request AI conversion. Your library is stored on your device. Generated responses can be retained temporarily for interrupted-request recovery, with a window of up to 72 hours. What will Ink2TeX cost?
The app is free to download. AI conversions use your account page balance, including welcome pages, subscription allowances, and purchased extra page packs. Prices and plan details are shown in the app before purchase.
